1st Nine Weeks!

Collins, Suzanne. Catching Fire. New York: Scholastic, 2009. Print. (391 pages)

Katniss lives in the poor district twelve and won the hunger games. Now Peeta, her secret lover and

her hunger games partner, and her have to go back into the arena and play in the annual Quarter Quell.

Katniss is accused of starting a rebellion and has to try and convince President Snow that she didn't mean to

and that she will fix everything. She must or else the ones she loves will be hurt. Or will she change her mind

and decide to help and be the leader of the rebellion? Will she go in the games and try to win and prove that

there is a rebellion? Or will she just let herself die to save her loved ones?

The theme in this book is really good and inspiring. Katniss has to fight for something that she believes in

that can hurt her if she fails. She has to have courage and desire. She also has to wholly believe in what she

is fighting for. In life, there are going to be instances where we will have to fight for something that we believe

in whether it is a big or small.

Huxley, Aldous. Brave New World. New York: Perennial Classics, 1998. Print. (259 pages)

In the new society of the new world, people have different views and values. There is no God, they use

drugs to make them happy, and they have intercourse with everyone they can. Sounds a bit crazy right? Well

not to the people in Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, but Bernard isn't quite convinced of the ways

everyone acts. In fact Bernard refuses to take soma, the happy drug, and even feels wrong about sleeping

with more than one women. Then John the savage comes along and is looking for a way out of the

reservation and Bernard is just the man to get him out. Will John like the new world or will he return to the

reservation?

Huxley writes in a unique style that I have never encountered before. In one chapter in the book, the point

of view changes every sentence. The conversation will be between Lenina and Fanny and then switch to the

conversation with the Controller and his students then again to one with Henry Forester and Bernard Marx.

Huxley also uses complex words and sentences. This made the book even harder to follow.

Noël, Alyson. Blue Moon. New York: St. Martin's Griffin, 2009. Print. (284 pages)

Ever is back again and her and Damen are living happily ever after. They have both turned immortal and

have eternity to spend together. Ever thinks she has all the time in the world, but when Damen

becomes "sick" and starts acting weird and shunning Ever, she can't help but think that her eternity with

Damen is running short. She has to find a cure for Damen before time runs out, but an evil force stands in her

way. She has a choice to make before she can save Damen, but will she make the wrong decision and be

forced to live in guilt forever?

This book to me made me think about putting people before myself. Ever has to make a decision that will

either favor her or favor Damen. She has to decide what is right and who to put first. Personally I think the

right thing to do is to put that someone first, but this book enables you to realize that those decisions that can

effect you in a harmful way but will help someone else are really hard to decide.

Noël, Alyson. Evermore. New York: St. Martin's Griffin, 2009. Print. (301 pages)

Ever has just survived a terrible accident in which all of her family has died. She is now living with her

Aunt and has strange powers that enable her to read peoples minds and see their aura. One day a gorgeous

breath taking guy named Damen comes to school and their is something very strange about him, Ever can't

read his mind or see his aura. She is falling in love with him, but there is something that is keeping Ever and

Damen from being together forever.

Ever is like every other teenager, expect she can read peoples thoughts. She wears hoodies and sweat

pants to school and always cranks up her ipod to drain out the oncoming thoughts. She has two friends out

of the whole school, but she would rather have them than the preppy girls that make fun of her. Damen is

gorgeous, graceful, and easy to fall for. He is classy and romantic and leaves Ever red tulips every time he

can. He is all caught up in Ever and thinks she is the prettiest girl in the world. He is always following her and

trying to talk to her and even meeting her after class, but none of the other girls know why. Why is he falling

for this freak?
