Book review of Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson

Anderson's book Twisted amazed me at how well she told the story of a nobody in high school that suddenly became a hott bad boy.

In this book, Tyler used to be a loser. A nobody, but after he spray painted the school he has become the talk of the school. Girls are fascinated by him now. Especially one, Bethany Milbury. She is the princess of George Washington High. Tyler has had a secret crush on her forever and now since he has a new attractive look, Bethany finds him interesting. In this story, Anderson writes about the exciting ups and downs that Bethany and Tyler have together.

Tyler's dad has a very stressful job and is always biting Tyler's head off and being rude to his wife. Tyler usually just backs off and lets him have a tantrum. Since he vandalized the school, his dad is stressed out because Tyler almost went to jail. Every little thing Tyler does his dad is always telling him that he is not good enough and even threatens to send him to military school.

One day Tyler has finally had enough of his dad's criticism and takes a stand. Tyler basically says I am good enough and you need to stop. Tyler was very brave and his dad respected that.

I enjoyed this book because it talked about the reality of high school. Everything was legitimate. I recommend this book to anyone, girl or boy. You will love it.
